Food sure is not good and is very overpriced. Bathrooms were clean though.

I love the rustic decor of the place with those lamps like the Tiffany. The musical events, the food, the good atmosphere, the customer service and the memories on the walls as if it were a small museum. It also has its romantic touch. Of course! I will repeat more times with my dear Jake. ^_^

Best chicken fingers around! We love the Village Tavern and the wide variety of good eats on the menu. Their lively atmosphere and friendly servers always make sure your day ends on a good note. Definitely a staple for our family!

Really great historical place (oldest Illinois tavern still in operation, I think). I loved the history but the food ... not so much. My parents visit here often but they are less-limited than I am on options. For clarification: I don't eat beef/turkey/pork/chicken, only fish. i also try to stick to a gluten-free diet so as to not piss off my gluten-intolerant innards. I did cave and scarfed down a piece of their homemade bread. I don't believe I've ever seen bread so thickly sliced. Was it worth the discomfort? It was, it really was!

Love this place so much. Any of the chicken dishes or the hamburgers are the way to go. Although everything I have had has been delicious. The drinks are always really great too. The atmosphere is really nice and they always have a good selection of live music playing and the staff is very nice

Awesome place. We use to go here a lot years ago. Went back last week for the first time in several years. Place is the same. Great food and fun environment. Very cool vintage decor. We had terrible service, but I think it was a fluke. Overall it was a good experience and I would recommend it.

This is the oldest restaurant in Illinois and you can tell that by all the other people eating there. Food was awful. I went here a few weeks back on a Saturday got the prime rib and it was flavorless and tough. Our server had the personality of a rack . Don't bother with this place.

The Village Tavern has good days and not so good days. It can also be very crowded. I particularly like the bar area.

We stopped in The Village Tavern on our quest to visit the oldest bar in each state. Lucky number 32! This bar is at the top of my favorites list. An adorable building in a charming neighborhood. The inside is rustic with taxidermy and vintage stained glass windows. A beautiful grandfather clock sits at the end of the bar. On top of the historic appeal the staff is beyond amazing. Super friendly people to chat with and the pour a fantastic drink to boot! You should stop in and see for yourself!

Thoroughly enjoyed it! Traditional American Cuisine With some tasty surprises! More than ample size servings and superb staff! Tons of fun for the kids! Wish I had taken pictures, LOL.

Food wasn't great, chicken too salty and they forgot my dad's side of cottage cheese. Had live music today and it was not good. Great rustic environment and service was good.

I don't think this place has changed in 150 years. I hope it never does. The food is rich and amazing, the beer is great, and the atmosphere is exactly what you'd want if you were climbing out of your carriage for much needed refreshment after a long day of travel.

A great little place off of the down town cross roads to grab a bite to eat or a drink. Staff were great and the food didn't leave you hungry.

Was strange, but in a good way. Not a lot of people in town. Food was ok, had the boasted chicken dinner. Nice broad menu. Not many tap beer choices though. Overall, was a nice experience.

Food average, burger not cook at temperature requested (medium) slow service eventhough there were only 2 or 3 tables. Not as good as I remembered from previous visits.

Amazing place. Has history going back to 1897. The food was served with lightning speed. I had a fantastic baked French onion soup and a very moist fish fry. My wife had a great portabella mushroom sandwich. She loved it. I tasted it, and I wish I had ordered it. Highly recommend.

Great place to eat, live music. Blue cheese burger could've been better the blue cheese didnt have the bite and taste like blue cheese should have. Staff there are awesome !! Very comfortable place.

We were there for a Friday fish fry on Good Friday. The Village Tavern in Long Grove has a well known fish fry. It was fried Pollack, Fries and Cole Slaw. All excellent and all you can eat. We got there when they opened at 5p. I would say at 515pm it was packed with people. This is a popular place.

A sophisticated dining experience. I have never had anything but a 5 star dinner every time I have gone.

First time visit was very nice with good and friendly service. The live entertainment was also enjoyed and the reason for selecting the Tavern. While I was able to find a few menu items that appealed to me (with fish or seafood), there was a noticeable lack of vegitarian or vegan options.

Fantastic place to eat some food when in a rush. Their service is fast, rates are affordable, awesome character. Keep up the good work

Great food, staff, prices, and atmosphere.

A real gem. The staff were helpful and friendly. The decor is cozy. I especially appreciated that they seat families with children in the dining room and leave the tables in the bar for the grown ups. I real find in this area that's a real pleasure. The food came out hot and flavorful. The cheeseburger was cooked perfectly. Added thinly sliced red onion, which they speedily brought out as it was an afterthought when we first ordered. The fish was flakey and juicy and the breading was crispy. The French fries are perfect in my opinion, a cross between steak fries and shoestrings. The bartender filled us in on the history of the place and told us about the AYCE options of Broasted chicken and fish, check the schedule for the days. Will definitely be back.
